Bagby - Plants

One of my favorite plants is Japanese painted fern.  My sister's home had areas of lush plantings.

Thinking of entering  the bottom photo for next month's meeting.

Below is a rose  bud that I played with today. . . . .10-13-13

This is yet another milkweed pod. . . .  I managed to take about a 100 pics of these. . . LOL.  But I think that this one is pretty much in focus.  I never know exactly how to crop anymore.  But here it is.

10-14-13   An alteration of  above photo.  Curious about ratio.  Does it matter if we unrestricted crop or are we supposed to maintain the standard ratios?  I had to take some off of the top and that seemed to ruin the great shape of the pod.    hmmmmm

The plants are very lush and beautiful. I'm going to guess and I may be wrong that the judges might wonder what is the photo's focal point in the bottom photo? Have you gone to the QCPC website and seen the entries for the CICCA? OMG ....they are gorgeous. Many of them look as if they've been taken somewhere other than here.

Love the rose. It's sharp, so sharp that you can see the little "'hairs" on the stem. Great bokeh too. Definitely enter this one.

Ok thanks. . . . . *sigh* .. . . after all of my "problems today" that is encouraging. . . .

I like the milkweed; I'm just not sure about the composition. In my very humble opinion, I think the side pod needs to go. It's distracting a bit. Cover it with your hand and see what you think. It'll be tricky to remove. Maybe not for you though. Just a thought.
